Chinese astrology calculator: two systems, two charts, both free
Chinese astrology is not one method. The two systems you can calculate here answer different questions from the same birth data — and both are cast in the browser, without an account.
A Chinese astrology calculator casts a chart from a birth date, hour and place. Rimo offers two: a Zi Wei Dou Shu twelve-palace chart and a BaZi four-pillars chart, both free and both cast from a solar-terms calendar.
The two charts, side by side
| System | What it gives | What it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Zi Wei Dou Shu 紫微斗数 | Twelve palaces with the stars that fall in them, plus the ten-year spans | Situations and domains of life, and how a stretch of years is governed |
| BaZi 八字 (four pillars) | Four pillars, the Day Master, the ten gods and the luck pillars | Element balance, temperament, and timing |
What both of them need
A birth date, the hour if you have it, and the city. The hour matters more than people expect: it fixes the hour pillar in BaZi and places the Life palace in the twelve-palace chart, and a chart cast without it is read as provisional.
Which to cast first
If you came looking for a Chinese astrology chart, the twelve-palace chart is the fuller instrument. If you came for elements and timing, cast the four pillars. Nothing stops you casting both — two systems, one birth record.
Questions
Is Chinese astrology the same as BaZi?
No. BaZi is one of two calculable systems here; Zi Wei Dou Shu is the other. They share a calendar and the five elements but compute different things from it.
Can I cast a chart without a birth time?
Yes, but it is provisional: without the hour the hour pillar is missing in BaZi and the Life palace is not placed in the twelve-palace chart. Add the hour when you can.
Are the calculators free?
Free, and they run in the browser — nothing is uploaded. Written readings, if you want one, are priced on the readings page.
